Six Flags Great America Announces New Area and Family Coaster for 2027
Six Flags Great America has announced plans for a new family area in 2027, featuring a coaster. The new family area will be called Camp Timber Trail and will feature several new and returning attractions, including the Sky Hawk family suspended coaster.
About Camp Timber Trail
The Camp Timber Trail family area is the first part of a multi-year transformation of the park. The new area will replace the current Yukon Territory and be an evolution of it.
“Since opening in 1976, Yukon Territory has been home to some of the park’s most cherished memories,” said John Krajnak, Park President of Six Flags Great America.
“With Camp Timber Trail, we’re making a significant investment in family experiences, preserving the playful spirit that has defined this area for decades while introducing exciting new ways to explore and create traditions together. As the first step in a multi-year transformation of the park, Camp Timber Trail reflects our commitment to enhancing the guest experience while building on the legacy that makes Six Flags Great America so special.”

Camp Timber Trail will feature nine attractions and experiences.
New: Sky Hawk family suspender coaster
New: Trail Trotters pony trek ride
New: Forest Grove Play Park outdoor play area
Chirp Chaser (formerly Sprocket Rockets) family coaster
Wilderness Wagon (formerly Crazy Bus) junior flying carpet ride
Creek Cruiser (formerly Yahoo River) boat ride
Returning: Bee Boppin’ (formerly Buzzy Beez) children’s ride
Little Dipper historic wooden junior roller coaster
Logger’s Run classic log flume ride
Sky Hawk Family Coaster
Sky Hawk is a Vekoma Family Suspended Coaster that will be the Midwest’s longest, tallest, and fastest of its kind. The coaster will “send riders soaring through treetops on an exhilarating flight that combines thrills with stunning views of the woodland landscape below.”
