Taste of Busch Gardens - 2020 Event at Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Busch Gardens Williamsburg is currently hosting its second event of the year: Taste of Busch Gardens. The event runs September 2 through September 27, and my visit was on Sunday, September 6, from 11 AM - 3 PM.
Here's a quick summary:
Parking - I showed my Florida Platinum Annual Pass and received my free parking. Many cars are still parking right next to each other, against the recommendation to leave a space between vehicles.
Entering the Park - I continue to enjoy the new security and temperature screening procedure. The metal detector picked up my camera, so I had to take that out of my pocket. There was a short wait for security, but no wait to enter the park with our reservations and annual pass.
Rides - There are lot more rides open for this event compared to Coasters and Craft Brews. You can ride Verbolten, Alpengeist, Griffon, InvadR, Der Wirblewind, Kinder Karussel, Le Scoot, and Finnegan’s Flyer.
Health and Safety - The physical distancing markers and hand sanitizer are all well-maintained and visible. Some ride queues are missing marks, but most guests are keeping their distance. Most guests are wearing their masks as required.
Festival Food Items - The overall food quality is very good. You can buy a 5 or 10-punch tasting card in the park or online. As a Florida Pass Holder, I couldn’t get my discount online, and had to buy in-person. My top food recommendations: Jerk Chicken Slider and Risotto at Chef’s Choice in New France.
Animals - You can see the Clydesdale horses, bald eagles, and walk through the aviary! The grey wolf display is open, but I did not see the wolf.
Overall, Busch Gardens Williamsburg's “Taste of Busch Gardens” is a great event, and a big upgrade from Coasters & Craft Brews. You probably won’t be able to do everything within the 4-hour window. If you’re local, I’d plan on a couple of trips.
