Shanghai Disneyland Reopening on May 11th, Other Parks to Follow
Shanghai Disneyland will reopen to the public on May 11th, according to the Disney Parks Blog.
Disney Parks’ Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pamela Hymel is working with her team of health and safety experts to establish new, enhanced safety measures. In a separate Disney Parks Blog post, Dr. Hymel announced they are exploring many different options for the parks, including:
A phased reopening that could start with retail and dining locations (e.g., Disney Springs)
Guest capacity measures that will limit the number of people in queues, restaurants, hotels, and ride vehicles. The Disney Parks App used by Disneyland and Walt Disney World may aid in that effort.
Increased cleanliness and sanitation, especially in high-traffic areas.
Screening and preventative measures, such as face masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
Training for cast members on the new procedures.
We’re looking forward to welcoming all of you back to our Disney parks, resorts and stores. Until we are together once again, we wish you and your families health, hope, and happiness.
On January 25, 2020, Shanghai Disneyland was the first Disney Park to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
No dates or other details about the phases for other Disney Parks were announced.
